Fire Emblem Lex Talionis
A GBA Fire Emblem fan game made with Lex Talionis
My intention with Fire Emblem Lex Talionis
Fire Emblem is one of my first game and first love with a franchise. Playing it every so often, I have many issues with GBA Fire Emblem, to cite a few :
- Often Enemy Phase oriented : Player can just put a bulky unit with a 1-2 range weapon, and enemies kill themselves
- Weapon Triangle is ignored in late game because he is not impactful
- Weapon durability is now depreciated : holding 5 Iron Swords because it's cheap and powerful enough is not interesting
After trying GBA Romhacking and crying over Assembler, I found Lex Talionis Engine, specialized in GBA Tactical with Python support.
Lex Talionis
An Engine specifically made to create GBA Fire Emblem-like games, with a few units, classes, items, maps and setups to getting start !

Planification is mandatory
Fire Emblem is defined by a roster of units : custom portraits, combat sprites, etc...
I wrote down character traits to ensure consistency in dialogue and skills, as well as weapon type to have a varied bunch of characters to use !
Intention is key
Fire Emblem, it's a story told through chapters, and good chapters has something unique : theme, objective, mechanics...
So I tried to give each chapter some love and something unique.

Tactical is also balancing
With multiple games to draw resources from, which unit is good or bad depending on base stats, growth rates, recruitment condition, I can use some data to reach any goal.
